About me

n199711107_41604513_82314 I’m a girl of chinese decent born in Miri, Malaysia. Though it’s a fully-fledged city now, it was a quaint small beach town back then. Due to my father’s job, we’ve moved homes almost every 3 years. This was great as we got to live in lots of countries including China, the Netherlands and Scotland which made for a nice and varied childhood.

I spent my high school years in an International school in KL and then at Cheltenham College, UK. I then attended The University of Edinburgh for a degree in Genetics. Edinburgh’s one of the nicest cities I have lived in.

I’m currently trying to finish up my PhD in Nottingham, researching blood stem cells. It was more difficult than I thought, and I can’t wait to finish so I won’t be known as the eternal student anymore.

While trying to write up my thesis, I’m also planning for my wedding in June. I met Weng-Tak in Edinburgh where he was studying medicine. He proposed in a beautiful park during a mini-break to Cambridge in May last year. The ring is a beautiful solitaire diamond from Tiffany’s in the classic setting. I’m very lucky to have him in my life, especially since he’s taken over most of the wedding plans so I can concentrate on my thesis! All I have to do is tell him what I would like.

My interests include archaeology, tudor history, wildlife, baking and eating cakes, and traipsing around staley homes with my fiance. And ooh, I like shopping aswell.

I started this blog because I thought since I spend so much time at the computer writing my thesis, I could take a break and write in my blog from time to time before I turn into a science geek. Also, this blog gives me the opportunity to update my family on my wedding planning.

I think that’s enough for now as I’ve written way more on this page than on my actual work..
